
KHAR: A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred in a cross border attack by terrorists from Afghanistan in Bajaur tribal district on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lance Naik Samiullah was martyred in cross border attack in Bajaur. The martyred soldier belonged to Jablok area of Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The body of the martyred soldier was taken to Jablok for burial.
Bajaur is in the grip of violent incidents recently. On July 14, a girl was injured when a mortar shell fired from Afghan side landed at a house in Bajaur.
Local sources said the mortar fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan landed at the house of a local person, Latifullah, in Kaga village in Mamond tehsil due to which a 22-year-old girl was injured. The house was also partially damaged and cattle were also killed.
The Pakistan Army troops stationed in the area retaliated and targeted the suspected positions of terrorists operating from the other side of the border.
On July 01, one person lost his life in a bomb blast in Mamond tehsil. Police said a bomb planted near the shop of a citizen, Muhammad Tahir, went off due to which the 60-year-old watchman, Kawal Khan, lost his life.
On June 28, three persons were injured in Charmang tehsil of Bajaur in firing from Afghan side.
The local administration said three persons were busy in labour in Hilalkhel area near the border when they came under gun attack from across the border.
May 27, one person was killed and a girl was injured after a mortar shell fired from Afghan side landed in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur.
The mortar shell was fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan which landed in a populated area in Gardao village, situated near the border. Police said a mortar shell landed on a house which killed a local person, Bakhtullah, while an eight-year-old girl, Rashida Bibi, was injured. Several cattle were also killed in the blast of mortar shell.
On May 22, one person died, while his brother was injured in a blast in Bajaur.
