PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Wednesday took notice of murder of a suspected terrorist in Swabi and asked police chief to submit a report.
When first session of the assembly begins, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Sardar Hussain Babak raised the issue after which Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani issued directives to IG KP to inquire the incident.
Counter Terrorism Lahore raided a house in Swabi and shot dead Anwarul Haq, who was a retired Pakistan Air Force official, on charges of terrorism one day ago.
Relatives and locals staged a protest demonstration after the incident and placed body of the deceased on main road. They also dug a grave on main road to bury the dead as a reminder of ‘extra-judicial murder’ and demanded of the government to register an FIR against CTD Lahore.
Swabi police expressed unawareness while family members rejected CTD claim that he was involved in acts of terrorism. CTD Lahore in a statement said that the deceased opened fire on its team and injured its official, adding that Anwar was shot dead in retaliatory firing.
