Sri Lanka score 482 runs in first innings

PESHAWAR, 7 October: Pakistan scored 51 runs for no loss at the end of second day’s play in Dubai Test in response of Sri Lanka’s 482 in the first innings on Saturday.

Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne hit career-best 196, lifting Sri Lanka to an imposing 482. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal scored 62, Niroshan Dickwella scored 52 and Dilruwan Perera scored 58.

Pakistan still trail by 431 runs. Sami Aslam was playing on 30 not out and Shan Masood on 15 not out at the end of the play. Yasir Shah was the pick of bowlers for Pakistan with six wickets, while Muhammad Abbas took two wickets.

Pakistan still need 231 runs to avoid the follow-on. Sri Lanka are leading the two-match series 1-0 after defeating Pakistan in the first Test by 21 runs in Abu Dhabi.

Sri Lanka will become the first team to win a Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates if they won or secured a draw in this match.
