PESHAWAR, 3 May: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has welcomed the apology of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain over his statement about the Pakistan Army.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister House said one should be careful while making any statement about matters of national security. Mr Sharif said it is the responsibility of the government to safeguard the respect and dignity of national institutions. He said irresponsible statements affect the reputation of the national institutions.

The prime minister said the media should also follow the code of conduct and desist from unnecessary highlighting the unnecessary statements against national interest.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution to condemn the statement of Mr Hussain against the Pakistan Army.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has also announced to submit a resolution in the Sindh Assembly to condemn the MQM chief’s statement.
