NOWSHERA: Police have arrested step brother and sister who allegedly got married in Risalpur area of district Nowshera on Tuesday.

A close relative of accused Mr Saqib said that the marriage was fake as the siblings just wanted to upset and take revenge of their father Shoukat Hayat.

Officials at Risalpur Police stations said that Ms Hazrat Bibi wife of Shoukat Hayat, residents of Karachi city, complained to police that her daughter Sarwat Hayat and step son Saqib entered into marriage a few days back and since then they were on run from home. She alleged that Saqib deceivingly took her daughter away from home and later ‘married’ her.

Subsequently, Police raided a house in Risalpur and arrested the siblings’ couple and lodged an FIR against them under PPC 363/34. The two siblings were later produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Wali who sent Ms Sarwat to shelter home Mardan for 13 days and remanded Saqib in police custody for a day.  The court also ordered conducting  medical examination of Sarwat Hayat.

Talking to reporters outside the courtroom, accused Sarwat Hayat said that she was embarrassed by marrying to his step brother as it was an un-islamic act. However, Saqib said that he took the extreme action in order to for safety reason as they were chased by police and they wanted to be safe in Karachi. A close relative of Saqib said that the marriage was fake as the siblings just wanted to upset and take revenge of their father Shoukat Hayat.

According to Islamic Sheria and Pakistani constitution, marriage between siblings- whose father or mother are same,  is haram, illegal and un-islamic act.

A large number of people thronged to the courtroom to witness the couple and to know about the highly unusual case.
