PESHAWAR, 23 October: Strict security measures have been adopted in all parts of the country for the 9 Muharramul Haram processions.
The major mourning procession of Peshawar has been taken out from Hussainia Imambargah Saddar which will return for the Maghrib prayer to the imambargah after passing through its traditional routes. More than 7,500 police personnel have been deployed for security of Muharram processions in Peshawar. The Frontier Corps (FC) and Army personnel are also patrolling the city and security measures have also been reviewed through security cameras and aerial surveillance has been carried out through helicopters to avoid any untoward incident during the Muharram processions.
The main procession of Dera Ismail Khan was taken out from Bamo Shah area on Friday (today) morning and was passing through traditional routes. Strict security measures have also been adopted in DI Khan and police and military personnel are jointly patrolling the city. Pillion riding and rickshaw driving have also been banned in the city for two days as part of security measures.
