HANGU, September 20: Students of the Government High School Kotki in Hangu district have protested absence of their teachers and lack of electricity and water supply facilities at the school.
The students blocked the Tal-Hangu road. The demonstrators said the electricity connection of their school had been cut off due to non-payment of bills and that most of teachers did not come to the school but received salaries regularly.
“Our school lacks water. Our teachers only get their salaries and always come late to the school. If our problems were not solved in a few days, we will stop attending the school and instead stage protests,” said one of the speakers at the rally.
The school administration said teachers were not attending school because of sectarian violence in the area and that they had written to the deputy commissioner about that. Hey said the problems would be solved soon and that the electricity bills would also be paid in a few days.
