PARACHINAR, 29 November: The students of Government Girls College Parachinar in Kurram Agency and their parents have called upon the government to address the problem of shortage of teachers at the college.

Turi Bangash tribe elder Haji Faqir Hussain and Parents Committee Chairman Haji Sher Muhammad said while addressing a press conference at Parachinar Press Club on Monday that the students of the girls college are facing difficulties due to shortage of teachers. They said 300 students are enrolled in the college. They alleged that the principal of the No.1 College is trying to close this college which will be resisted.

The tribal elders called upon the government to appoint teachers and discourage efforts of elements trying to close the girls college.

“We have very few science teachers here who are sometimes sent to the other college for lectures. Now they have again sent these lecturers to other college due to which we are facing difficulties. I am a position holder student and I have bright chances of achieving my targets in the future. We need regular teachers for continuity of our studies,” Musarrat, a student of the college, told TNN.

The political administration said efforts are being made to address the problems of the college. It said the college will not be closed keeping in view the need of the local people.
