DERA ISMAIL KHAN,12 October:  The Ulema and leaders of Sunni and Shia sects have agreed to maintain peace in DI Khan during the month of Muharram. The leaders from both sides met here in a Jirga convened by district administration on Monday. The high ranking officials of police and army were also present on the occasion

Addressing the Jirga , Commissioner DI Khan Zakir Hussain said that  Shia and Sunni should avoid passing derogatory remarks and statements against each other during the holy month of Muharram.

The Commissioner informed the Jirga members that pillion riding would be banned during  9th and 10th Muharram. Similarly no one would be allowed to circulate and publish pamphlets and posters that may incite hate against any sect during the sacred month, he said and added that standing on rooftops of houses was strictly banned and asked the Jirga members not to let any stranger stay in their areas during Muharram.
