BANNU: The suspects involved in terrorist attacks on former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Akram Khan Durrani and candidate from PK-89 Shireen Malik have been arrested.
Bannu Police said the arrested suspects Siddiqullah and Qadar Ayaz belong to banned organisations. Siddiqullah had come from Afghanistan for terror acts in Pakistan during the elections, while Qadar was his local facilitator. Police said both the suspects have admitted their involvement in attacks on Akram Durrani and Shireen Malik during interrogation.
The arrested culprits revealed that they were also planning more terror acts. They divulged that a team had come from Afghanistan for terror acts in Pakistan during elections.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Durrani was attacked twice during election campaign in Bannu, while another JUI-F leader Shireen Malik was also attacked during electioneering. Akram Durrani remained unhurt in both the attacks, but four people escorting his vehicle died in the first attack. Shireen Malik was injured along with six others a bomb attack on his vehicle.
