SWABI: Swabi police on Friday launched crackdown against Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement and arrested nine of its workers after a local court rejected their bail applications.

The workers were arrested for organising a public gathering of PTM after which cases were registered against 19 PTM leaders including Member National Assembly from South Waziristan Ali Wazir and PTM head Manzoor Pashteen at Swabi Police Station.

They were accused of raising slogans against state institutions including armed forces.They had filed bail applications at a local court that were rejected after which they were arrested outside the court.

Those who were arrested including Col (retd) Hidayatullah, social activist Liaquat Yousafzai, Dr Mushtaq, Dr Jaseem, Abid Shah, Khairuddin, Riaz, Muhammad Ali and Faiz Muhammad Kakakhel.
