PESHAWAR: Ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat Maulana Haji Abdul Wahab died in Lahore after a protracted illness on Sunday.

Maulana Haji Abdul Wahab, who was the third ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat, was ill and was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Lahore. He breathed his last on Sunday morning at the age of 95. His Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral) will be held in Raiwind Tableeghi Markaz after Maghrib prayer.

Maulana Abdul Wahab was born in Delhi in 1923. He migrated to Pakistan after its creation. He got his education from Islamia College Lahore. He also worked as a Tehsildar before the parturition of the Sub-Continent.

The Maulana joined the Tableeghi Jamaat in 1944 and also left his job for it. He was considered close to the Jamaat founder Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi He became the third ameer of the Jamaat in 1992 after Haji Muhammad Bashir.
