PESHAWAR, 18 December: The federal government says terrorism incidents have reduced in the country during the current year.
Replying to a query in the Senate on Friday, Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said 1,100 terror incidents have been reported in Pakistan this year most of which (650) occurred in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). He said 200 terror incidents were reported from Balochistan and 193 such incidents were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mr Nisar told the House that 373 militants were killed in FATA this year. He said 100 militants were killed in Balochistan, 73 in KP, 55 in Punjab and 36 were killed in Sindh. He said over 700 militants were also arrested under the National Action Plan (NAP) to counter terrorism. He said most militants (301) were arrested in KP, 267 were arrested from Balochistan and 88 were arrested from FATA.
