PESHAWAR, 14 December: Terror related incidents have dropped down by 58 percent in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last one year, claimed a report published by the provincial police regarding its annual performance.

The report while quoting KP IG Nasir Durrani said the cases pertaining to kidnapping for ransom have also been reduced by 50 percent.

“Implementing the National Action Plan, the provincial police conducted 16,666 search operations in different parts of the province during which more than 45700 suspected persons were arrested. Besides, 390 kilogram explosives and thousands of weapons were also recovered during these operations,” the report added.

According to the report, the counter terrorism department (CTD) has arrested 688 wanted militants in different operations. Besides, more than 17000 Afghan refugees were also rounded up for not having valid documents following a crackdown against illegal Afghan nationals after the militants attack on APS. Most of the arrested Afghan nationals have been deported to their country, the report concluded.
