ISLAMABAD, 7 November: Safron Standing Committee on Tuesday expressed reservation over recruitment of non-locals on vacancies in Tribal Electric Supply Company. The non-locals were recruited despite warning by the committee.

Chairman Tesco, during a meeting of the committee, said that 38 posts were advertised in Tesco on which 18 locals and 20 non-locals, 19 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Punjab, were recruited on it.

Chairman of the committee Senator Hilal Rahman asked why people from Punjab and KP were recruited.

Higher Education Commission officials briefed the committee about Fata University and scholarships for tribal students.

Chairman HEC said that three universities have been approved for Fata, adding that construction work could not be started on it due to non-acquisition of land.

He urged parliamentarians to donate their lands where these universities would be built.

Chairman HEC said that prime minister has exempted tribal students from fee for five years.
