QUETTA, 5 June: A three-day book fair has been organised in Quetta to promote the habit of book reading in students and other people belonging to different walks of life.

The book fair has been organised at the Quetta Press Club by different book publishers. Balochistan University Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Iqbal and Quetta Press Club president Shehzada Zulfiqar inaugurated the event today.

The vice chancellor said in his opening speech that no society can make progress and development without education. He said no other source can match the knowledge gained from books.

The students, teachers and a large number of other visitors took keen interest in the book stalls.

“Book, scholar, poet and state are interconnected. An ideal state can be created if all of them work in coordination,” a visitor at the book fair told TNN.

“This kind of events should be organised every month to promote book reading habit among people. It will also improve the standard of education in our country,” another visitor said.

The book fair will continue at the press club till 7 June.
