Three-day funfair begin in Mardan

MARDAN, 14 February: A three-day funfair ‘Jashn-e-Mardan’ begin in Mardan to provide recreational activity and sensitize local people about various cultures.
The funfair was organized by a private organization with the support of district government. Mardan district nazim Himayat Ullah Mayar inaugurated the fair.
A private educational institution, Dar-e-Arqam School, held a funfair for students of all schools of Mardan district and their parents to ease the tension caused among people by the 16 December terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar. Culture and industrial stalls were established from different parts of the country including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The fair included stalls of history, general knowledge and Islamic books, magic show, quiz competitions, cultural show and face painting. Mina Bazar was also established for women visitors.
District nazim Himayat Ullah Mayar on the occasion said that the fair is aimed to educate local people about other areas’ cultures, knowledge and industry and similarly other areas’ people got to know about the Mardan culture, traditions and industry. “The stalls comprise of our traditional items and new inventions. This kind of activities will help establish peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere,” Mayar said.
A local woman Mihnaz, who had come to the fair, told TNN, “This kind of healthy activities is a source for our progress and we want the authorities to organize such kind of other healthy activities in Mardan.” She said that the event would help highlight Mardan for peace and tranquility.
