PESHAWAR: The health departments of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan has kicked off a three-day polio drive to vaccinate thousands of children against the crippling disease.

KP Health Department said that around 5.7 million children would be administered anti-polio vaccines for which around 18,000 teams have been constituted. For Fata around 10 million kids to be given the drops to vaccinate them against the polio virus.

Fata Health Department said that 4383 teams have been given the task to launch a door to door drive apart from teams who would be deployed at all entry and exits of the tribal areas.

Similarly, 2.4 million children in Balochistan province would be vaccinated. It should be noted that not a single case has been reported from tribal areas while only five children were reported from different areas of the country of which one from KP and one each from Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan.
