Three-day polio drive kicks off in KP, Fata

PESHAWAR: Around 5.78 million children to be administered anti-polio vaccines during the three-day anti-polio drive started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

Emergency Operation Center KP coordinator Atifur Rahman said that the drive would continue till February 14 during which children at the 75 Afghan camps would also be vaccinated.

A total of 21151 teams have been constituted of which 18409 are mobile teams, 1544 fixed and 926 transit while 272 are roaming teams.

Around 30,000 police personnel have been deployed to provide security to polio teams. In Fata around one million children would be vaccinated for which around 4368 teams have been formed. No case from Fata has been reported since last 18 months.
