PESHAWAR, September 23: Three people, including a woman and a security official, have been killed and 13 others injured in a suicide attack on a convoy of the Frontier Corps (FC) in the provincial capital Peshawar.
Brigadier Khalid Javed, who was the target of the attack, narrowly escaped the explosion, Capital City Police Officer Mr Ijaz Khan told reporters.
He said those killed included a woman, an FC man and a passer-by. He added that 13 people, including security personnel, were injured in the explosion.
All the injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital, the biggest public sector healthcare facility of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
“It seems to be the reaction to Operation Zarb-i-Azb [in North Waziristan],” the CCPO said.
Local media quoted a military official as saying that Brigadier Khalid Javed, based in Peshawar, originally belongs to Wah area and serves as deputy inspector general of the Frontier Corps.
According to the bomb disposal squad, 45 kilograms explosives were used in the attack.
