MIRANSHAH: Three soldiers were injured in a bomb blast in North Waziristan tribal district on Friday, local sources said.
The sources said a bomb was planted in Koranai barani nullah which exploded on the soldiers in Mir Ali tehsil. The injured soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Barkat, Naik Asif and Sepoy Kifayat. The injured soldiers were taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Bannu.
The security forces cordoned off the entire area after the incident and initiated search operation. However, there were no reports about any arrest in the search operation.
Most of the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) have returned to North Waziristan after the completion of military operation. However, militants still have some presence in the area and attacks on the security forces happen from time to time. Similarly, the security forces also conduct intelligence based operations in the area to clear the left over terrorists.
On 25 January, two persons, including a security personnel, were injured in a blast near a security check post in North Waziristan. Official sources said an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near a check post in Mir Ali, injuring Havaldar Pervaiz and civilian Akbar Khan.
A day earlier, two children of a family sustained injuries in a landmine blast in North Waziristan. Local sources said the incident happened near Ghulam Khan when the children were playing outside their home.
Boy injured in police firing
A student was injured in firing by policemen in Nowshera on Friday.
According to police, a student Kamran Khan did not stop on the Army check post in Risalpur Cantt due to which the policemen on duty opened fire on him. The student received a bullet in his arm and was shifted to Mardan Medical Complex.
Police said six persons on motorcycles were going to Nowshera from Mardan. The policemen on the check post signaled them to stop for checking, but they did not comply. The policemen opened fire due to which one of them sustained injuries. The injured student belongs to Par Hoti area of Mardan.
District Police Officer (DPO) Mansoor Aman has taken notice of the incident and two policemen Najeeb Khan and Nazar Khan have been arrested.
