The upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience thunderstorms and high winds from today through Saturday. According to a post by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), weak westerly winds are likely to enter the upper and central regions of the country on Tuesday evening and may persist for the next three days.

In response to the forecast, the PDMA has issued an alert to all district administrations, instructing them to take preemptive measures against potential incidents caused by dusty winds, gales, and thunderstorms. District administrations have been directed to ensure the availability of necessary machinery to handle any emergencies that may arise.

The PDMA has also advised farmers to adjust their watering schedules for crops, especially in wheat harvesting areas, in light of the impending weather. The public is urged to stay away from electrical wires, unstable buildings, signboards, and billboards during strong winds.

Tourists and residents in sensitive upland areas are advised to take precautionary measures and stay informed about weather conditions. District administrations have been asked to communicate weather updates to the local population in their native languages.

In case of any emergency, all concerned agencies are instructed to maintain road connectivity and provide alternative routes for traffic if roads are closed. Tourists should be kept informed about weather conditions to ensure their safety.

The PDMA's Emergency Operation Center is fully operational, and the public can report any incidents by calling 1700.
