Tobacco dealers urge KP Govt not to impose additional taxes

PESHAWAR, 07 June: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tobacco Dealers Association on Wednesday demanded of the provincial government to not impose additional taxes on tobacco.
While addressing a news conference at Peshawar press club, members of the association said that 13 years ago, Pakistan Tobacco Board had agreed with them that tax would not be imposed on tobacco dealers in the areas where tobacco cultivated. They alleged that the board has now retracted from its earlier promised made with tobacco dealers.
Tobacco dealers alleged that the provincial government is preparing to impose additional 5 percent withholding tax. They feared that the additional taxes would badly affect the tobacco business adding that they would never allow more taxes.
