PESHAWAR, 14 October: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 83 runs in the first match of the five-match ODI series in Dubai on Friday and gained 1-0 lead.
Pakistan scored 292-6 after they were invited to bat first by Sri Lanka. Babar Azam was top scorer with 103 runs, while Shoaib Malik scored 81. Sri Lanka could score 209-8 from their 50 overs and lost the match. Hasan Ali and Rumman Raees took three wickets each. Shoaib Malik was declared man of the match for his quickfire 82 off 61 balls.
The remaining matches will be played in Abu Dhabi (October 16 and 18) and Sharjah (October 20 and 23). Sri Lanka had won the Test series 2-0.
