Tractor drivers’ union stages protest demonstration in Bannu

BANNU, 01 April: The tractor-troley drivers’ union here on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the district administration and police for banning loaded tractor-trolleys to enter into the Bannu city at day time.
The protesters blocked the main entrance road to the city for all kind of traffic and parked loaded tractor trolleys on the road. The protesters said that the district administration has banned loaded tractor-trolleys to enter the city from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. They said that the union did not accept the district administration decision and termed the decision as economical murder of tractor-trolley drivers. They vowed to continue their protest demonstration till the administration rollback its decision of banning tractor-trolleys from entering the city.
Masses also suffered difficulties due to the protest demonstration as the main road remained block for several hours.
Negotiations between the protesters and SHO Saddar police station also failed to end the protest. Later the police arrested 10 protesters whereas the remaining protesters dispersed peacefully. The road was later reopened for traffic.
