PESHAWAR: People associated with the business of printing and publishing staged a protest demonstration in front of press club here Tuesday against the provincial government’s decision of bringing changes in the printing policy.

The protesters were of the view that in past the government used to give tenders of books’ printings only to the publishers of the province but now it had modified the policy. According to the new policy, they said, tenders for books’ publishing could also be given to the publishers of other provinces.

The protesters also chanted slogans against the 17 percent text levied on the publication of text and religious books and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
