PESHAWAR, 01 August: Rejecting the suspension of some junior doctors by the management of Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in transgender Alisha case, TransAction Alliance, an association of trans people, has asked the government to take action against the senior doctors of the hospital who are responsible for the death of their fellow.

“It is mere an eye wash. The actions taken by LRH management are unacceptable to us,” said Farzana, president of the TransAction Alliance while addressing a news conference here on Monday.

“Those doctors who have been suspended have nothing to do with the case,” she asserted and said the inquiry report clearly pointed out senior doctors including directors and chairman Board of Governors of the hospital and held them responsible for not providing timely treatment to the injured transgender.

“We demand action against Nowsherwan Barki, Chairman BoG, LRH and Medical and Hospital Directors and senior doctor Prof. Shahabudin,” Farzana said.

She added that they would move court against the decision of the LRH management.

It merits recalling here that the LRH management suspended three doctors including Senior Registrar Liaqat, Dr. Syed Amir and Dr. Ibrahim for negligence in Alisha case.

However, a copy of the inquiry report available with TNN does not carry the name of Dr. Liaqat.

The inquiry committee in its report recommended actions against Hospital Director Col. Retd. Hamid Saeedul Haq, Medical Director Prof. Amir Ghafoor, Deans Prof. Muzafaruddin Sadiq, Consultant Dr. Javed, Dr. Syed Amir and Dr. Ibrahim of Casualty ward, Prof. Dr. Shahabuddin of Orthopedic ward and Manager Trauma Yousaf Hussain Bangash.
