KHAR: A tribal elder died in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Asbal Targhao area in Barang tehsil in Bajaur tribal district Monday.
Local sources said Malik Lal Said Jan was going home from bazaar when he was attacked with a remote-controlled explosive device due to which he was killed on the spot.
Police arrived at the site of the incident and launched probe. No one claimed responsibility for the murder till filing of this report. Sources said it seemed to be another target killing incident in the area.
Targeted attacks and killings have recently increased in Bajaur over which the local people have expressed grave concern. They say such incidents are disturbing peace in the area, and people involved in such incidents must be brought to justice.
On February 19, an employee of Health Department was injured in a firing incident in Bajaur.
Local sources said the Health Department Class-IV employee Sifatullah was going home after duty in Khar area when unidentified armed men opened fire on him, leaving him severely injured. He was taken to District Headquarters Hospital Khar from where he was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar due to his critical condition.
On January 27, unidentified armed men shot dead a young volleyball player in Tarkho area in Mamond tehsil.
According to local sources, Salahuddin, who was a labourer and well-known player of volleyball, was coming home after playing a match at Barkhalozo ground when unknown gunmen opened fire on him outside his home in Tarkho area, leaving him dead on the spot.
The family members of the slain young volleyball player said they had no enmity with anyone. He was a member of Barkhalozo Volleyball Club.
On December 02, 2020, two tribal elders were shot dead in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur.
Unidentified armed men opened fire on tribal elders Saadat Khan and Malik Shazullah at their home, leaving them dead on the spot. Station House Officer (SHO) Chargo Police Station Bacha Rehman said the bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar for post mortem and were handed over to families after completion of legal formalities. Sources said the incident seemed to be a target killing.
