PESHAWAR, 25 October: The traders’ community of the North and South Waziristan agencies and the All-Parties Political Alliance have demanded of the government to constitute a committee to oversee the distribution of funds provided by international donors for the welfare of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Fata.

Addressing a joint news conference in Peshawar press club on Tuesday, deputy chairman of the political alliance Farhad Ali and president of the North and South Waziristan traders’ union Zainullah said that more than 21000 shops were destroyed during the military operations in Miran Shah and Mir Ali.

They said the local traders had faced billions of rupees losses due to closure of their businesses and destruction of the markets and commercial areas.

They also demanded of the government to explain as where the billions of dollars received from international donors for the rehabilitation of the tribal people, had been spent.

“We have convened an all-parties conference (APC) on coming Friday on one-point agenda and that is our demand that the government should compensate the traders of the North Waziristan agency as per the UN charter,” Zainullah said.

He added that the compensation amount should not be distributed through the officials of the political administration, rather a committee should be constituted for the purpose.
