PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an action on the Grand Trunk Road.

Officials of the CTD said that the arrested militant Falak Niaz, hailing from Sulemankhel area of Badhber. He was involved in blowing up power towers and kidnapping and beheading a man and later blowing up the body with explosives. He was shifted to an unknown place for interrogation. Sources said the arrested militant commander has confessed his involvement in different crimes during interrogation.

Meanwhile, police foiled an attempt of terrorism and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a Van in Pabbi area of Nowshera on Saturday.

One smuggler was also arrested. Police lodged a case and initiated investigation.
