SHANGLA, 16 November: The National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA) has arrested 20 fake earthquake affectees for getting government aid meant for quake victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to an official of NDMA, the process of scrutiny has been kicked off in various areas of KP to arrest the fake quake affectees who have received government aid. He said those who have received financial compensation and relief items through fraud and deception may be imprisoned for u to two years and fined Rs 0.5 million.
According to district administration Shangla a committee has been constituted to differentiate between genuine and fake quake afecctees in the district.
Authorities have arrested 12 and 8 fake quake affectees in Shangla and Bahrain respectively, who were not qualified for receiving the government aid.
