CHARSADDA/MARDAN: Two people, including a schoolteacher, were killed and four others, including two women, were injured in firing incidents in Mardan and Charsadda, police said on Saturday.
The schoolteacher was shot dead in the jurisdiction of City Police Station in Charsadda on Friday night. The assailants fled the scene after committing the crime.
In another incident, unknown armed men opened fire on a lawyer in Battagram area of Charsadda. The lawyer remained safe in the incident, however, his brother received bullet injuries.
Police said the armed men entered the hujra (male guest house) of Advocate Waqar Khan and opened indiscriminate firing. Police has registered a case of the incident.
Meanwhile, in Mardan, one person died and three others, including two women, sustained injuries in a firing incident over a petty issue.
According to an FIR lodged with police, Anwar Ghani and Rehmat Ghani allegedly sprayed bullets on the house of 16-year-old Jawad after exchange of harsh words over a petty issue in Rustam area.
Jawad, his mother, 20-year-old sister and cousin Latifur Rehman were injured in the firing. The injured were taken to Mardan Medical Complex by the rescue personnel where Jawad succumbed to his injuries. The mother and cousin of Jawad were later shifted to Peshawar for treatment due to their critical condition.
