PESHAWAR: Two young men died and two others were injured as roof of a room collapsed after rain in Peshawar on Tuesday.

The Rescue 1122 spokesman said the roof of a dilapidated guestroom of a house collapsed on Inqilab Road in Chamkani area. Four young men were in the room when the incident happened. The rescue teams immediately reached the spot upon getting information and retrieved two bodies and two injured persons.

The injured persons were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar where one of them was discharged after initial treatment, while the condition of the other was stated to be critical. The deceased were identified as Ijaz Ali and Rab Nawaz, while the injured were identified as Saeed and Dilawar Khan.

The condition of the guestroom was poor and after two-day rain, it collapsed.

Child killed by little friends

A child was killed by his friends after an argument while playing marbles in Mathra area of Peshawar on Tuesday.

Police said Rehmat Ali filed a report with Mathra Police that his 10-year-old son Fawad was killed with a sharp-edged weapon. Police shifted the body to hospital for post mortem and initiated investigation. Two little friends of the deceased child were also interrogated. During interrogation, the two friends Aziz and Ismail confessed to killing Fawad. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered.

It was revealed by the children that sharp-edged weapon (knife) was brought from home by the children to dig a hole for playing marbles. However, during the game, the children quarrelled and Aziz and Ismail killed Fawad by hitting him repeatedly with the knife.

16 injured in fire incidents

Sixteen people sustained burn injuries in four separate incidents of fire in Peshawar during the last two days.

The Rescue 1122 spokesman said the first incident happened in Afghan Colony where a gas leakage blast injured five persons. The second incident happened at Inqilab Road where five members of a family were injured in gas cylinder blast. In the same area, six people were injured in a similar incident and day earlier.

Fire also erupted in the store room of Naseer Teaching Hospital at Nasir Bagh Road due to which, according to the owner, equipment worth millions of rupees was reduced to ashes.
