BANNU, April 30: Two station house officers (SHOs) of the Police Department were suspended for allegedly abetting smugglers in Bannu district.

An SHO, usually an inspector, heads a police station. Sometimes a sub-inspector is also authorised to serve as SHO in case of shortage of inspectors in the Police Department.

Official sources from Bannu told TNN that District Police Officer Sajid Ali suspended Fidaullah Wazir of Howaid Police Station and Najeebullah Khan of Miryan Police Station and ordered inquiry against them.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Durrani has suspended more than 300 policemen on charges of corruption and misconduct during last several months. Those suspended include 40 policemen from Bannu alone.
