PESHAWAR: Two schools in Bajaur tribal district have been closed after emergence of three coronavirus cases.

Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Sherpao three coronavirus cases have surfaced in Government High School Pasht Salarzai and Government High School Dherkai, tehsil Salarzai.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Zameen Khan Momand conducted a visit to both the schools and supervised disinfectant spray through the Tehsil Municipal Administration officials. All the students of Government High School Pasht and eighth class students of High School Dherkai have been given leave for five days.

A statement from the district administration said the general public should observe precaution as second wave of coronavirus has already started in Bajaur. It said people should wear facemasks while going outside home.

KP corona update

As many as 140 new coronavirus cases have surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, after which the total toll has reached 39,889. The death toll in KP has reached 1,281 as one more death was reported during the last 24 hours. As many as 113 more patients have recovered, taking the total tally to 37,804. Active corona cases in KP are 804.

Instructions for govt offices

The KP government has also strengthened measures at government offices and restricted people’s entry over concerns of spread of coronavirus.

The administration department has issued a notification according to which instructions have been issued in light of the increasing coronavirus cases.

It said entry of visitors to the public offices, like Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretariat and other government offices at provincial, divisional and district levels would be restricted, while all visitors would be provided with an opportunity to discuss matters with the relevant officials over the phone and they would be allowed to enter the premises only if it was essential.

The notification said all such visitors shall preferably be dealt at reception.

The Directorate General Health Services has also asked authorities concerned to ensure all necessary arrangements at health facilities in KP to curb the rising corona cases.

The directives were issued in a letter addressed to hospital directors at medical teaching institutes, district health officers and medical superintendents at district headquarters hospitals. It said preventive measures are must to stop growing cases.
