MIRANSHAH: North Waziristan tribal district has reported its first two coronavirus cases after their tests came back as positive.

The district administration said the samples of 30-year-old Noor Khan and 33-year-old Muhammad Noor were sent for laboratory tests from the Tableeghi Markaz which came back as positive on Sunday. Both the patients are under treatment at the isolation ward of the District Headquarters Hospital.

North Waziristan was so far clear of coronavirus and these are the first two cases which have been confirmed. The government is repeatedly stressing the need for social distancing to avoid the spread of coronavirus and those showing negligence are prone more to the disease.

So many confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported from the members of Tableeghi Jamaat in different parts of the country. The main Raiwind Tableeghi Markaz in Lahore has been completely sealed and other centres throughout the country have also stopped their activities till the situation improves. The members of Tableeghi Jamaat in different parts of the country have been sent back home. However, some of them are being diagnosed with coronavirus.

The government is taking strict action whenever a new coronavirus case is reported and most of times the neighbourhood of the affected persons are sealed and those who came in contact with the patients are quarantined.

Meanwhile, another confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported in Shangla after which the number of confirmed cases there has reached three.

The administration said the affected person is a resident of Karora area. He returned from Rahimyar Khan district of Punjab few days ago. According to sources, the village of the affected person is being locked down to avoid the further spread of the disease.

In Swat, 13 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed so far and three of them have died which has created an atmosphere of fear in the whole district and people are strictly observing social distancing.

With the confirmation of new case, the number of infected patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has mounted to 375 till filing of this report. 15 people have died of coronavirus in KP so far, while 30 have recovered.
