PESHAWAR: Two terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan tribal district, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement on Sunday.
“Security forces conducted IBO in Mir Ali, North Waziristan. (Two) hardcore terrorists (were) killed and one terrorist (was) apprehended,” the ISPR said.
The operation in Mir Ali took place two days after the security forces foiled a major terrorist activity and gunned down two terrorists during an IBO in Boya area. The two slain terrorists included an improvised explosive device (IED) specialist.
The terrorists were involved in killing innocent locals, extortion, planning and executing more than 25 terrorist attacks on security forces.
Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.
On September 28, a soldier was martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Shakai Valley area of South Waziristan.
According to the ISPR, the security forces were patrolling in the area after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists there. Captain Abdullah Zafar, 25, embraced martyrdom as he led the troops in during the patrol.
On September 19, two soldiers embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Miranshah area of North Waziristan tribal district.
According to the ISPR, the operation was carried out in Spalga village. The security forces cordoned off the entire area and conducted a search operation.
On September 13, four terrorists, including a commander, were killed near the inter-district boundary of North and South Waziristan in an IBO.
The ISPR said the IBO was carried out in Ghariom, Shaktu area in which four terrorists, including terrorist commander Ihsanullah alias Ihsan Sanray, were killed.
On September 12, a soldier embraced martyrdom in a remote control blast in North Waziristan. The soldier was on routine duty Land Muhammadkhel when a remote control blast happened on the roadside.
On September 07, six terrorists, including a highly wanted commander, were killed in an operation by the security forces in North Waziristan.
