NOWSHERA, 15 December: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar has opened a campus in Jalozai area of Nowshera.
The new campus was inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Monday. Provincial ministers, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Engineering University Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and a large number of students attended the inauguration ceremony.
According to a statement of the university, about 3,200 students will get engineering education at the Jalozai campus established at the cost of Rs6.65 billion. It said about 200 teachers will also be appointed at the university.
On the occasion, the chief minister announced to regularise 15 contract teachers of the campus.
The governor suggested to the HEC and the provincial government to use the university campus for establishment of a technology park in the future.
