PESHAWAR: Ufone, one of Pakistan’s largest cellular operator — has announced that they will soon start providing mobile phone services to the people of North Waziristan — a long- deprived and war-weary region of the country.
As per the details announced by the company today, Ufone has finally fulfilled the long-standing demand of the people of Miran Shah — headquarter of North Waziristan as the telecom company on March 9 is going to launch the cellular mobile services on its tower infrastructure to end the communications division of the tribal people for the first time.
The telecom company has announced that initially, they will provide services to cities of North Waziristan, where the people will be able to connect with the rest of the world through their mobile phones without any restriction. It was further added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for information Shaukat Yousafzai and Federal Minister for communication Murad Saeed will inaugurate the service in a ceremony to be organized at the tribal district.
A spokesman for the Ufone Company while making the announcement said that they are extremely happy to provide this service to the tribal people like other parts of the country. The company also thanked the government of Pakistan and Pakistan Army for facilitating the company to launch its service in the tribal belt.
Telecommunication and connectivity are considered as key factors for sustainable economic development of the FATA areas which were long-deprived of these pivotal elements. The PM Imran Khan has last year, announced the extension of telecom service to tribal areas. The adviser to Chief Minister on information technology Kamran Bangash has said the CM has also given approval for the launch of telecom service in all tribal districts.
Last week, AWAL Telecom in collaboration with one of Pakistan’s largest cellular operator — Jazz has announced providing mobile phone services to the people of South Waziristan. It was announced that AWAL Telecom is playing an important role in the development of telecommunication infrastructure, connectivity, and services provisioning in Wana and will reach to more areas of South Waziristan and North Waziristan district very soon.
