LAKKI MARWAT: A workshop was organised for Ulema of Lakki Marwat on Saturday under the aegis of the Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI) to play their role in anti-measles campaign.

Emergency Operation Centre representative Dr Riaz Nasrullah, District EPI Coordinator Dr Umar Faisal, PEI Polio Dr Nisar, DHCSO Samiullah, Tehsil Supervisor Muhammad Ayaz and other experts attended the event.

Dr Riaz Nasrullah said while addressing the workshop that measles is a dangerous disease, which can be stopped from spreading with effective immunisation and awareness campaign with the help of Ulema. He said measles is spreading rapidly in Lakki Marwat, and it is the responsibility of everyone to play their role in countering this threat and save the new generation from this deadly disease. He appealed to the Ulema to help the EPI in creating awareness among the people about the importance of the immunisation campaign which will kick off in Lakki Marwat on 15 October.

Dr Riaz said there was no negative impact of the anti-measles vaccination, therefore, parents must ensure that their children below the age of five years get anti-measles vaccination.
