PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Education and Technical Training Shafqat Mehmood has announced uniform education curriculum in the whole country.
The minister made this announcement during a visit to Sindh Madrassatul Islam University and on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said it is very difficult to be a politician in a country like Pakistan. He said the politicians had to take different stances keeping in view the changing situation in the country. He said it is a matter of great satisfaction and honour that we are living in a free country.
Shafqat Mehmood said the government is working on its plan to bring a uniform education system in the whole country. He said work on the plan will be completed by March next year. He said from March, the country’s education curriculum will be similar in all parts of the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has several times mentioned in his speeches that there should be one curriculum in the whole country for the rich and the poor. Few days ago, the premier said in a speech that uniform curriculum is inevitable in the country to move it on path of development. He said different education courses create a class based society.
Uniform curriculum is among the priorities of the ruling party in its election manifesto.
Meanwhile speaking on the occasion of his visit to the Mazar-e-Quaid, the burial place of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinna in connection with his birth anniversary, Shafqat Mehmood said that government is committed uniform development across the country.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers were also accompanying the federal minister during his visit to the Mazar-e-Quaid. The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan during the meeting in Council of Common Interests (CCI) said federal and provincial governments have to work together for the welfare of the general public and country.
Shafqat Mehmood said the corrupt must be made accountable.
Other political parties have not made any comment about the announcement of the government about bringing uniform education system. It will not be an easy task to make all the educational institutions, particularly the private educational institutions.
