MINGORA, April 25: Dr Haider Ali of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf has won by-election for the provincial assembly constituency PK-86 in Swat district, according to unofficial results.
TNN correspondent says the balloting started at 9am and continued till 5pm on 24 April. Besides men, a large number of women participated in the polling amid tight security at vote stations.
According to unofficial results, Dr Haider Ali of the PTI is leading with 17,360 votes, while his rival candidate Sardar Khan of the PML-N has polled 16,250 votes.
The PML-N’s Qaimus Khan had won the seat in the general elections last year but later the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified him in fake degree case.
