PESHAWAR, 19 October: The US vice president Mike Pence has accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Pakistan.
According to media reports, Mike Pence telephoned Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday and thanked Pakistan on the release of a foreign family from the captivity of the Afghan Taliban. He appreciated the professionalism and bravery of the Pakistani security forces who took part in the rescue operation. While emphasising the need to improve bilateral relations, Mr Pence said the US wants to further improve ties with Pakistan for peace and prosperity in the region.
The prime minister said Pakistan is committed to eradicate terrorism from its soil and will continue to take action on credible intelligence. The prime minister invited the US vice president to visit Pakistan, which he accepted.
