MARDAN, 20 August: A villager who donated a piece of land for a girls’ high school in Sawaldher, Mardan, locked the school for not getting employment as per commitment.

Johar Khan, a resident of Gul Bagh area in Sawaldher Mardan, said he had donated the land for the construction of a high school for girls on the condition that he would be given employment in the school.

He alleged that the education department did not honor its commitment and the job had been offered to another person.

Meanwhile, female district education officer, Mardan Samina Ghani said two members of Johar Khan family had already been given employment. She added that it was not her authority to give employment to somebody.

Ms Ghani further informed that a report had been filed with the deputy commissioner urging him to take action against Johar Khan for closing the school.

It merits a mention here that the said school has been locked since August 15 and the female students of the area are deprived of education.
