PESHAWAR: The Wall of Kindness (Deewar-e-Mehrobani) has been set up at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium in Peshawar to help the needy sportsmen in the city.
The Wall of Kindness has been set up with the help of the district sports department and will be looked after by the district government.
According to a press release, Commissioner Peshawar Shahab Ali Shah was chief guest at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, while Deputy Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, District Sports Officer Jamshed Baloch and sportsmen were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner and deputy commissioner said the well-off people will keep sports items, kits, uniforms etc at the Wall of Kindness and the deserving sportsmen will pick the needed items. They said poor sportsmen often leave sports as they cannot afford buying precious equipment. They said the idea behind establishing the Kindness Wall is to help the needy sportsmen.
The commissioner and deputy commissioner said secrecy of the donors and those who pick items from the Wall of Kindness will be maintained. They said such walls will also be established in the schools of Peshawar for needy students after which this practice will be extended to other areas.
Meanwhile, another press release stated that the district administration will arrange a khuli kutcheri (open court) today (Tuesday) to hear public complaints and issue orders for redressal on the spot.
The khuli kutcheri will be held at Shaheen Muslim Town at 12:30pm.
