BARA, 10 October: The relatives of terrorism affected people in Bara tehsil have criticized political administration for not paying compensation to them and demanded that the victims’ families should be provided financial assistance forthwith.
Talking to TNN on Saturday, the local residents of Bara said that a number of innocent people including women, children and elderly people had lost their lives and sustained injuries in the ongoing war between militants and security forces. In addition, several others got paralyzed in the conflict, they said and added that war affected families submitted applications to the political administration for financial aid long ago, however they were yet to be compensated by the authorities.
One of the complainants said” we have been begging for compensation for last three years but the officials of political administration are using delaying tactic and making irrational excuses to process our cases”. Giving an example of hurdles they face, he said that if a conflcit victim name is not appeared in a news story in a newspaper, he or she is not eligible for compensation”.
When contacted, Assistant Political Agent (APA) Bara said they could not process a case for compensation without complete documents and verification from elders. He said that all the applications submitted by war affected people for financial assistance were scrutinized by the authorities and no victim would be left without being compensated.
