TANK, 1 May: The 1.9 billion rupees Waran canal system irrigation project was inaugurated here today.

The United States Aid for International Development (USAID)-funded project was opened by Dera Ismail Khan Commissioner Zakir Husain Afridi. Talking on the occasion, he said that Waran canal system was basically a part of Gomal Zam Dam project, which will help irrigate 63,000 acre land, which would usher in an era of green revolution in the area. He added that the stipulated time for the completion of the project is one year, which will also create job opportunities. .
