PESHAWAR, 6 December: Leprosy, TB and Blinds Relief Association of Pakistan, an organisation working for diagnosis of different diseases, has declared water of 80 percent tube wells in Peshawar and its surrounding areas injurious for health.

The monthly meeting of the Association was held in Peshawar on Sunday. Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Khan chaired the meeting, while representatives of the Association and doctors were also present on the occasion.

The meeting was told that there was a huge quantity of sand in the water of tube wells in Peshawar and there was no arrangement for filtration. It said the use of contaminated water causes asthma, hepatitis and lungs diseases.

The meeting demanded Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Health Minister Shehram Khan Tarakai and district nazim to make arrangements for installation of filtration plants at all tube wells of Peshawar.
