PESHAWAR, 26 July: The World Food Program (WFP) has announced monthly stipend for female students of the federal administered tribal areas (Fata).

A delegation of World Food Program led by its country director Ms. Lola Castro called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in Peshawar on Tuesday. Provincial chief of WFP Mr. Bai Sankoh and head of program Naimatullah were also present in the meeting.

The delegation apprised the governor about the activities of WFP in Fata. Ms. Castro said that the initiative has been taken to promote literacy rate among female in Fata and encourage tribesmen to educate their female children.

She said that under the program Rs1200 stipend per month would be given to the girl students of high schools while the girl students of middle schools would be given Rs800 per month.

She said that WFP would also continue its activities in other sectors including health and technical education.

The governor appreciated the services of WFP and said that peaceful atmosphere in FATA has been restored as a result of utmost struggle of the army and people of Fata.
