BANNU, 21 November: The arrival of winter season has increased the problems of the displaced Hindu community belonging to North Waziristan.
Like other tribesmen of the volatile North Waziristan Agency, a large number of people from the Hindu community also moved to the adjacent Bannu district and have been living here since then.
Talking to TNN, members of the community complained that they had been passing a miserable life because the relief items provided to them by the government and non-government organizations were not sufficient. “The arrival of winter season has doubled our problems. We have been given a single tent and a blanket which is not sufficient for my family. The weather is getting cold day by day and it will be very difficult to spend life in one tent. It will not protect us from cold,” a member of the community said.
However, government authorities said they had been treating the Hindu community equally and no discrimination had been carried out with them.
The relevant officials told TNN that people from the Hindu community had been given the same facilities as like other IDPs from North Waziristan Agency. “Rather some non governmental organizations have provided more relief to them as compared to other tribesmen,” one of the officials said.
